Dr. Hendrik Putter is a Family Physician in North Nanaimo. Dr. Putter felt a calling to study medicine under the inspiration of outstanding teachers such as Prof. Christiaan Barnard, who performed the first human heart transplant in 1967 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Dr. Putter trained in Pretoria, South Africa, and worked as an Emergency Room Physician and lecturer at the Academic Hospital in Pretoria before entering private practice in Natal and Cape Town. Immigrating to Canada in 1997, he worked in urban and rural Saskatchewan for six years with Hospital Privileges at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
Dr. Putter moved to Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, in 2004 to open a solo practice and joined the North Nanaimo Clinic in 2011.
